Doberman Coat Colour & Facts about Doberman colours

You can always find interesting and unusual things in nature. White Animals and Albinos are everywhere throughout the world and history. The fascination people have with these rare animals stems from the rare difference in colour. From ancient times till the present day, they have always been loved, treasured and protected.

As most people know, the white tiger and white elephant, white cattle, among many others, are considered sacred animals. Because they are beautiful and very rare, all white and albino animals have become the most valuable attractions in your local zoo and circuses as well as over the world. Don’t be surprised that even in this day and age, some people who will say anything to try to convince others that they are nothing but genetically inferior mutants that should not exists.

Some even people have been led to believe or consider the dilute (blue or fawn) Dobermans to be mutants or inferior genetically, Spreading rumours by say such things  as, they will automatically have all kinds of health problems and a short lifespan. Those kind of statements are unfounded by research and hold no fact. It is not the colour gene that makes some Doberman have health problems. Colour and health are in fact unrelated and it is only poor breeding practice that will play a large roll in terms of health and longevity.

Blue is a dilution of black. Fawn is a dilution of red. All four colours are recognized and can compete in events and shows. White Doberman use to be recognized on the show ring and were steeling all the shows until a group of breeders and individuals in the ring petitioned to put an end to the white Doberman. Operation: "White Out" was started and set out to stop what was thought to be the expanding gene pool of white and albino Dobermans.

In over 35 years loyal to the breed, we have only ever seen two Dobermans that where white or rather more of a very light cream colour with very slight hint of tan markings. Both whites had thick bright shiny coats, were healthy and of good temperament and had no sensitivity to sunlight, but thats only just two, of who really knows how many are out there.

Having the Doberman band from competitions and segregated as a mutant, the so called “z list” was born. The "Z List" was compiled even though there was no factual data or test to determine whether or not an animal caries the gene. Doberman clubs claim that breeders on the z list are breeding to produce the white Doberman, calling them albino breeders, but this of course is not true. "Z List" or not, Albinos will be born. It is absolutely impossible to guess when or choose how many of each gender and what colours will be born.

Fact. Not all dogs that have been segregated to the "z list", are white or albino, in fact most or at least 99% of them are of common colours and have no increase in health related issues. "z list" Dobermans have a very highly unlikely chance to actually ever produce a white littler or even one white puppy out or a litter at all for generations.

Z-list --------------- http://www.dobermantalk.com/doberman-health/29373-z-list.html ------------ lol

Z list Dobermans are healthy animals on the list for the reason that they may be carriers of an undesired gene, that may never actually show up in any litters for generations. The chances are very minimal. it's not recomended to breed Albinos.

Albinism is more commonly referred to in humans, but albino animals of all species out there too. They may be bit strange, but sure they are beautiful!
