Definition of a Doberman
The Dobermann Pinscher (alternatively spelled Doberman
in many countries) or Dobermann is a breed
of domestic dog.
Dobermann Pinschers are among the most common of pet breeds, and the breed is
well known as an intelligent, alert, and loyal companion dog. Commonly used as guard
dogs, watch
dogs, or police
dogs. In many countries, Dobermann Pinschers are one of the most
recognizable breeds, in part because of their actual roles in society, and in
part because of media attention (see temperament).
Careful breeding has improved the disposition of this breed, and the modern
Dobermann Pinscher is an energetic and lively breed suitable for companionship

Breed History
The Doberman Pinscher was made in Germany by a man named
Karl Fredrich Louis Dobermann
during the 1800’s. Karl Fredrich Louis Dobermann (1834-94), father of the
Doberman Pinscher was a tax collector and frequently had to
travel through crime-ridden areas during the course of his work, and needed a
loyal guardian.
He set out
to created a new breed that would be the perfect combination of
strength, loyalty, intelligence. Louis
Dobermann was aiming to breed a giant terrier for agility combined with strength
and guard-dog qualities
The breed is believed to have
been created from several different breeds of dogs that had the characteristics
that Dobermann was looking for. The
breed was originally called Doberman's Dog. The name Pinscher which means
terrier was later added.
The
Doberman has all the good qualities of the breeds used in its cretion. The exact
genesis of the Doberman is not known. listed below are suggestions that could
make up the ancestry of the Doberman.
The
Old German Pinscher, the Beauceron, the Thuringian Shepherd Dog, the Rottweiler,
the black Greyhound, the Blue
Dane, the Weimaraner, the German Shorthaired Pointer, the Manchester Terrier and
The
Black and Tan German Shepherd Dog. (Dobermann also worked a second job as a dog impounder,
giving him access to a range of breeds.)
The first official records of the Doberman appear in the stud
books of the Dobermannpinscher Verein stud book of 1890 in Germany.
The Doberman has been bred to be an outstanding loyal guard
dog, The doberman is energetic with tremendous strength and stamina. Versatile and
very easy to train, determined, fearless, but not vicious.
